At the Glengarry Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 4, 2011. René Joseph DeGuire of Alexandria; age 89 years. Beloved husband of Léda Deguire (nee Lavigne). Loving father of Nicole Gualtiere (Elio) of Cumberland, Monique Menard (late Jean Louis) of Alberta, Jocelyne DeGuire of Hull, Murielle DeGuire (Renald Ouellette) of Gatineau, Bernard DeGuire of Summerstown, Hélène Laferrière (Jean) and Gatëan DeGuire both of Alexandria and Joanne Salazar (Tony) of Vankleek Hill. Dear brother of Alice Pommet (late André), Patricia DeGuire, Rita DeGuire, Lorette Patenaude (Gilles), Gérard DeGuire (Claire DeGuire) and Jeannine Bailleul (Gervais). Predeceased by three brothers Edmond, Laurier and Rhéal DeGuire. Dear son of the late Edmond DeGuire and the late Aldianna André. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11 am. Spring Interment Parish Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772). As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to René a tree will be planted in Memory Woods.
