Member of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died on March 24, 2012 at the Maxville Manor, in her 95th year, her 79th year of religious life. Sister is mourned by her Sisters in Holy Cross and by her sister Mary Gerken (Fred), brother Victor (Anita), many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas John Herlehy and Alice Loretta Kane and siblings Bernadette, Orval, Vera, Gerald, Leo, Ann Kane, Eileen Byers and Anthony. Sister excelled as teacher and principal in Toronto, Ottawa, Renfrew, St. Raphael’s West, Montreal and Clayton, N.Y. After 43 years as an educator, Sister became Chaplain at St. Joseph Health Centre, Toronto, a ministry dear to her heart. The Hospital honored her by inaugurating”The Legend Award inspired by Sister Marcella Herlehy, … created to formally recognize individuals and ongoing teams who consistently demonstrate extraordinary achievements and exemplify our Mission and Values in an outstanding way. As Chaplain at the Health Centre for 23 years Sister Marcella Herlehy devoted her life to ministering to the sick and supporting the staff, physicians and volunteers at St Joseph’s by living our Mission and Values in a special way, everyday."(www.stjoe.on.ca). Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. The Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Finnan’s Cathedral, Alexandria on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11 am. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Laurent, Quebec. As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Lori’s Legacy Fund at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, the Orphanage directed by the Sisters of Holy Cross in Haiti or the Maxville Manor would be appreciated.
