Peacefully at Hospice Cornwall surrounded by his wife Beatrice and his six loving children on Sunday, September 22, 2013. René Lajoie of Cornwall, formerly of Alexandria: age 82 years. Beloved husband of Beatrice Joyal Lajoie (nee Godard) and by a previous marriage to the late Claire Lajoie (nee Beaudry). Loving father of Michel (Gail Sheffe), Ginette (Gilles Girard), Daniel (Bridget Carrière), Francine (Grant McManus), Sylvie (Robert DeSerres) and Rachelle (David Walsh), and 8 Joyal step-children and their families. Dear son of the late Donaï (Dan) Lajoie and the late Aldéa Poirier. Dear brother of Aurèle (Blackie) Lajoie (Réjeanne), and Hubert Lajoie (Shirley). Predeceased by two sisters, Lucette Campeau and Elaine Lalonde, and by four brothers, Rolland Lajoie (Marie-Ange), Conrad Lajoie, Roger Lajoie (Lucille) and Jean Lajoie. Brother-in-law of Veronica Lajoie, Fernand Campeau, Claude Lalonde Jr. and Micheline Lajoie. Cherished Pépé of 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. René will be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many musical friends. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd, 114 Main Street South, Alexandria (613- 525-2772) on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Friday from 9:30 am-10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11 am. Memorial Donations to the Hospice Cornwall, or to the Calvin Vollrath fiddle camp, 4513 - 45 ave St. Paul Alberta, Canada T0A 3A3 would be appreciated by his family. As a memorial to René, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows – memories live.
