Avis de décès pour Carmel Roy

It is with great sadness that the Roy family announces the death of their mother, Carmel (Lunny) Roy. Carmel passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013. She was predeceased by her beloved husband René on October 28th, 2006. Carmel leaves her 8 children Dennis (Mary), Susan (Ken), Linda, David (Patricia), Patricia (Harold), Martin (Suzanne), Mannie (Michael), and Robert (Sydney), her 10 grandchildren and her 7 great grandchildren. Born in Montreal in April of 1921, she met her husband René in Glen Roy, where the Lunnys spent the summers. Married in 1945, they settled in Green Valley where Rene owned and operated the Green Valley garage. Carmel raised her family of 8 children with tender and loving care. Amid the challenges and difficulties of raising a family, Carmel managed to get back into the work force at 52, purchase a house, produce the St. Raphael's pageant, win a national award for the best Hospital Auxiliary newsletter, and continued to enjoy and welcome her children to their home. She and Rene were devout parishioners and choir members at St. Raphael's. Carmel was also a member of the Catholic Womens' League and in her devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel wrote the lyrics and music to a song that was sung on the feast day for over 30 years. She was always determined to excel in whatever she pursued, whether it was computer courses, aquafit lessons, carpentry courses, or French lessons. She was a determined, loving, and strong woman who always took pride in being fashionable. Amid her many accomplishments, her greatest joy and happiness was being surrounded by her family. She will be missed. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael's Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 am. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario, The Community Nursing Home or to the Friends of the St. Raphael's Ruins would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Carmel a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows-memories live.
