KEILLAR-LALONDE, Geraldine (Geri) Muriel (nee Fidler)
At the Cornwall Community Hospital, Cornwall, ON, in her 78th year. Surrounded by her loving family, Geraldine passed away peacefully, to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
Geraldine was born in Chipman, NB, on August 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Orland and Ida Fidler (nee McAfee).
Loving wife of Roger Lalonde of Bainsville, ON.
Dearly beloved mother of Colin (Debbie) Keillar of Bainsville, ON. Cherished and adored “granny” to Leathan and Graeme who were the light of her life.
Geraldine is survived by her brothers Stanley (Lorna) Fidler, and Lynwood (Grace Ann) Fidler, and Hazel Fidler (sister-in-law), all of Chipman, NB, and her sisters Carol Murphy of Fredericton, NB and Judith (Otis) Clarke of Minto, NB. Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, many friends, her church family, and former husband Colin Keillar Sr.
Along with her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her spouse Jean Jacques Denis of Les Cedres, QC, her brother Vance Fidler and her Aunt Muriel Glenn (nee McAfee) both of Chipman, NB , and her mother-in-law Ethel Keillar (nee Strang).
Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned almost 50 years, 35 of which were in the Public Service with the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Nursing Co-Ordinator at Ste. Anne’s Hospital in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, QC. Geraldine was a very generous and giving woman and her family meant everything to her. She was renowned for her shortbread cookies.
Resting at Munro & Morris Funeral Home, Lancaster, ON, (613-347-3629) where visitation will be held Friday, November 29th from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm, and on Saturday, November 30th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
A service in celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held Saturday, November 30th at 11 am at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster, ON. Reverend Ian MacMillan officiating.
Memorial donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster, ON, would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Cornwall Community Hospital and the Janet MacDonnell Pavilion for their compassionate care of Geraldine during her brief illness.
