Condoléances: I want to first start by saying thank-you all for coming to pay your respects.

My Father was an extraordinary man with a heart of gold. In the end his heart was failing him after a lifetime of never failing his family.

To know him is to love him!

Certainly he was a caring big brother to John, nurturing father and most loving husband, but he was something even more than that. He was a true Christian. He was never vocal about his faith, but even more importantly, he showed it and lived it everyday of his life. He lived by the “golden rule” to love thy neighbour as thyself. He lived as an example of a good Christian. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Always inquiring about how everyone else is doing. He was a devoted husband and loved my mother very much. They were in their 50th year of marriage.

He was a teacher by profession who undoubtedly touched several young minds. He was also a teacher to his children and taught us more than he probably ever knew. He taught us how to be thoughtful of others, to be caring and attentive to those we love. He taught us to appreciate what we have and what we are given. He taught us how to be a doting parent for that is what he was to us all. And finally, he taught us to have that crazy “Quesnel” sense of humour. He also had more patience than anyone else I know.
He worked hard for his family and took great pleasure in the little things like crosswords, TV, beer and a good steak.
His gentle soul was constantly apologizing for any inconvenience or ill feelings he believed to be causing to others. He used the words “I’m sorry” as regularly as the rest of us say ”Please” or “Thank you”.
I believe that his mission in life was to raise his kids well and make sure his family was happy. He accomplished it successfully and for that he will be sadly missed.

Instead of asking God, “”Why did he have to leave us now which seems too soon?” Let us be grateful to God for the time we did have with him…
Thank you God for giving us the extra time with him since the first heart attack nearly 15 years ago. Those last years enabled us to truly appreciate who he was and allowed us to reciprocate all that he had done for us. Thank you God for blessing us with Harry, Daddy, and Papa. May he be welcomed into your kingdom and rest in peace.
    I love you Daddy!
    Mary-Rachel
