Avis de décès pour Douglas Ferguson

At the Chateau Gardens Nursing Home, Lancaster on Tuesday, January 25, 2012. Douglas MacGregor Ferguson of Lancaster; age 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peg” Ferguson (nee Walker). Dear brother of Donald Ferguson (Shelagh) of Dorval and John Ferguson (Mary Jane) of Cornwall. Predeceased by one sister Lillias Bond (late Arthur). Dear son of the late Royden Ferguson and the late Minnie Keir. Douglas was very proud of his Scottish heritage and took great pride in tracing family history. He was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and served over the years as an elder and as treasurer. In addition to his farming duties, Douglas became the gravedigger for local cemeteries, and he was regarded as the expert in terms of locating family plots. Douglas was an avid reader of the Glengarry News, and was especially interested in attending the local farm sales mainly, we suspect, because of the social contact. In his later years, Doug and Peg visited New Zealand twice, and Doug made numerous friends. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629) on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Funeral Service will be held in the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11 am. Spring Interment St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, South Lancaster. As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Douglas a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows-memories live.
